Rain | Anu Sistonen / André Mergenthaler

Choreography: Anu Sistonen
Dance: Anu Sistonen
Violoncello: André Mergenthaler

RAIN is a improvisation for violoncello and dance. The piece has a choreographic and musical structure that provides artistic space for musician and dancer to improvise and interact. The name of RAIN suggests a sensual and natural experience – and in fact music and dance are designed to flow through the dancer's body. The sensitivity and the power of the music vibrates in every cell of the human body and captures not only the artists on stage, but the audience as well.

In her creative work, Anu Sistonen focuses on the interaction between body language and music. Her main interest lies in creating the right atmosphere, hitting an emotional key both with the artists on stage as well as with the public.

André Mergenthaler

André Mergenthaler studies violoncello at the Ecole de Musique Pétange with Georges Malach, further at the Musikhochschule Cologne with Boris Pergamenschikow. After touring with the singer Julia Migenes, he joins the legendary group "Art Zoyd" qui compose – among other pieces – the music for the ballet "Le Mariage du Ciel et de l'Enfer", a creation by the Ballet National de Marseille under Roland Petit. Besides, his career is accentuated by several solo performances: "Musik für einen Engel", the recent "Cello-loops" and compositions for theatre and cinema.
